INTERNSHIPS

The Montgomery County Public Defender’s Office hosts unpaid law school and graduate level interns and externs. We also have limited availability to provide experiential learning opportunities for undergraduate and high school students.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until all positions are filled. 

 

LAW SCHOOL INTERNS/EXTERNS
Description: Our office hosts semester and/or year-long placements for law students. Preferential treatment is given to 2L and 3L law students who are qualified and able to obtain the legal interns license through the Ohio Supreme Court. However, consideration will be given to 1L’s and 2L’s whose work and experience demonstrate a commitment to public defense.

Social Work Field Practicum Placements
Description: Our office hosts semester and/or year-long placements for Master’s level Social Work students, with opportunities for both micro and macro level placements.

Experiential Learning Opportunities for Undergraduates and High School Students

Description: Experiential Learning Opportunities for Undergraduates and High School Students. Our office is happy to provide learning opportunities for students who are interested in careers in public defense, social work, and social justice. We are able to facilitate onsite shadowing, career days at local schools, and short-term placements. Additionally, we will gladly provide guest appearances to local schools and classrooms to provide talks about public defense, social justice, and individual rights.
